From Presbyterian Disaster Assistance - Colombia Floods and Mudslides

Situation

A woman farmer works on measuring communal plots of farmlandOn April 1st 2017, heavy rainfall in the city of Mocoa in southwest Colombia caused flooding of the Mocoa, Mulato and Sangoyaco Rivers, resulting in several mudslides. The National Disaster Risk Management Unit reported that the affected area received 33% of its monthly total rainfall. 36 neighborhoods were affected, destroying 6 and seriously damaging 17; 332 deaths have been reported.

PDA Response

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is supporting our ecumenical partners ACT Alliance. ACT members Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH) and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) are taking the lead in responding to this crisis, supplying food security, psychosocial support, livelihood restoration, protection, education, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).
