THANK YOU. On behalf of the Presbytery, I want to thank Rock Hill Presbyterian Church for their hospitality in hosting the June meeting of Presbytery. Having a wonderful dinner in the pavilion on such a lovely summer evening helped to set the mood for the joyous worship and meeting that followed. Peace, Robert Nagy, Moderator of the Upper Ohio Valley Presbytery

Stories -- Your Website's Secret SauceStories of transformation inspire people to engage in matters of faith. But people rarely hear these stories unless they're already sitting in the pews. Will Rice suggests featuring stories of transformation on your church website will help potential visitors understand the point of going to church in the first place. Read more.
Best Practices for Handling Your Church OfferingCesie Delve Scheuermann writes in her blog "Inspiring Generosity" that one of the ways you can reassure people that your church is worthy of their giving is by telling them that you have established policies for secure handling and counting of weekly offerings. So the question is: Do you have these policies in place? If yes, when was the last time these policies were reviewed? And are you following these policies? Read more.

The Top Ten Reasons for Using Drums in Your Worship Service
10. The Board thought that using drums in the worship service would defuse the guitar controversy.
9. As the preacher, you feel like you’ve been doing a “High Wire Balancing Act,” so a drum roll is in order.
8. You’ve found several spontaneous drum rolls during the service keeps the congregation focused.
7. Your congregation has moved to multiple services and a long drum solo after the first service effectively clears the building for the next service.
6. The treasurer figured that a timpani works well for telethons, so why not for the Building Fund Update?
5. “Marching to Zion” is your favorite hymn.
4. You’ve found that using marching rhythms during the offering keeps the ushers moving.
3. The preacher’s jokes during his sermon would benefit tremendously from the traditional “PA-dumP-Bump,” or “rimshot.”
2. You always thought that “Wipeout” would be an appropriate instrumental during communion.
1. The Worship Committee has narrowed the decision to purchase a new instrument to either drums, or an accordion—‘nuf said.

PRAYER PARTNERS: You will find the most up to date prayer partner list, July 1, through December 31, 2017, on our website www.uovpresby.org. Click on “Prayer Partners” in the top blue box. Your prayer partner is the church on the same line across from your church in this file. The purpose is to get to know each other better and to pray for one another by sharing joys and concerns in a more personal way. You should contact that congregation throughout this six month period to get acquainted and find out about their prayer concerns and share those with your congregation in your bulletin and/or newsletter. We know the power of prayer, and we know that many times God shows His will for us through others, so let’s pray together.
